The first video I looked at in my genre of music was Wonderwall - Oasis. This music video is now 18 years old, so there has been many changes since then in style of music and music video. The Mise en Scene of the video says a lot about the band. The way the band are dressed shows the audience that the presentation of themselves is not highly important and they they are rebellious and do not care what people think. The setting of the video is in a warehouse, which is a big open space, which could be linked to the openness of their minds. The expressions of Liam do not give much away about how he is truly feeling, where as another member of the band is smiling which is a clear indication that he is feeling happy. The music video is filmed in black and white, with some objects such as the odd guitar and a clowns hat in colour.
There are moments during the music video which mimick The Beatles and one of them is an editing technique where the original image is duplicated on the screen and then tiled. This is an effect which was regularly used by the Beatles and Oasis used it because they modelled themselves on the great band. The attitude given by Oasis would suggest that they are free spirits and society haters, but they have used a technique which was used by a band which at one point was "bigger than Jesus".
